Before You Choose

There is no wrong entry point. There is only the one that matches where you are.

Some visitors arrive curious and uncertain — the introductory talk is the right place to begin. Others come with prior knowledge of the tradition and want something more demanding. A few are looking for quiet and sustained engagement. All three sessions are designed with genuine care. None of them is a lesser version of the others.

Finding Your Session

A few questions that might help you decide

If you are wondering...

"Is this tradition even relevant to me?"

Start with the Foundations Talk. An hour of honest engagement will either answer that question or deepen it — both outcomes are worthwhile.

Foundations Talk →

If you are drawn to...

"The physical and philosophical discipline together"

The blade workshop holds both. The sword is studied as an object of discipline and philosophy rather than combat — which is closer to what the tradition actually demanded of its practitioners.

Blade Workshop →

If you are seeking...

"Something that stays with me after I leave Tokyo"

The half-day is designed for exactly that kind of depth. The pace, the texts, the printed materials — it is structured to give ideas time enough to root rather than just land.

What you should know before booking

Location

All sessions are held at our space in Marunouchi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo — a short walk from Tokyo Station. Exact address is confirmed with your booking.

Language

All sessions are conducted in English. Original Japanese terminology is used where it matters, with full explanation provided in context.

What to bring

Nothing in particular. For the blade workshop and half-day, comfortable clothing that allows you to sit on the floor for extended periods is recommended.

Group size

Every session is capped at eight participants. This is a firm limit, not a guideline — it is what makes the format work.

Booking process

Contact us through the form on the main page. We will reply within one to two working days with available dates and any questions we have for you.

No prior experience required

For the Foundations Talk and the Half-Day, curiosity is the only requirement. The Blade Workshop asks only for reasonable mobility and a willingness to move slowly.
